a a & b b means a b − b a^{b}-b .

So, x 3 − 3 = 122 x^{3}-3=122

x 3 = 125 x^{3}=125

x = 5 x=5

and we are done!!! Simple😃😆😏

a&b = a b − b a^b-b

x&3 = 122

so x 3 − 3 = 122 x^3-3 = 122

hence x = 5 \boxed{5}
