A line with slope 2 intersects a line with slope 6 at the point ( 40 , 30 ) . (40,30). What is the distance between the x x -intercepts of these two lines?

Since both lines go through (40,30), it's easily found that the formulas of the lines are y = 2x - 50 and y = 6x - 210. Setting y = 0 for both yields x = 25 and x = 35. So the difference is 10.
