4 Numbers

Logic Level 1

The goal is to use all given numbers (each of them once) and the following operations - + + , - , × \times , ÷ \div and parentheses - to formulate the equation that equals to the number 24 24 .

Given four numbers 22 22 , 33 33 , 16 16 and 32 32 , is it possible to create an equation that equals 24 24 ?

No, never Yes, it is

( 32 16 ) 33 22 = 24 (32 - 16) \cdot \frac{33}{22} =24

( 32 16 ) × 33 ÷ 22 = 24 (32-16)\times 33 \div 22 =24

The problem suggest all 4 operators be used. This solution fails to include +. If all 4 operators don't need to be used then the problem is poorly worded, a common problem on this site

Normally with only 4 values, one can only use 3 binary operators between them. However, I suppose one could do something like: ( 16 + ( 32 ) ) × 33 ÷ 22 = 24 -(16+(-32))\times 33 \div 22 = 24

The way the problem is worded, it suggests that all four operators be used. Poor wording
