The harmonic mean of a set of numbers is the reciprocal of the average of the reciprocal of the numbers. What is the harmonic mean of 1,2, and 4?

  1. The reciprocal of 1, 2, and 4 is 1/1, 1/2, and 1/4. 2. The average of these numbers is 7/12. 3. The reciprocal of 7/12 is 12/7. 4. So, the answer is 12/7, which means answer A is correct.

This is mainly about applying the definition.
