Using the power rule we find the derivative of x 2 x^{2} to be 2 x 2x and the derivative of constant values is 0 0 .

Thus the derivative of the equation is 2 x 2x .

( x 2 + 1729 ) = d d x ( x 2 ) + d d x ( 1729 ) = 2 x 2 1 + 0 = 2 x \displaystyle{\begin{aligned} (x^2+1729)' &= \frac{d}{dx}(x^2)+\frac{d}{dx}(1729) \\&= 2x^{2-1} + 0 \\&= 2x \space \square \end{aligned}}
