A cool easy problem 5

A cylindrical copper rod has length 'L' and resistance 'R' .
If it is melted and formed into another rod of length '2L' ,
the resistance is:

4R R 2R 8R

Volume is constant
now since length is increased 2 times
resistance will be increased 2square times
new resistance = R x 2 x 2 = 4R

We know that resistance is directly proportional to length if length is increased by 2 times then R should also be increased by two times only know??????

You have forgotten than as length is increased, Area is proportionally Decreased!
