A family of six in sitting at a round table. Suppose Bob is in between Mr Tan and Brian while Mrs Tan is between Benedict and Brenda. Given that Brian is beside his sister, who is the one in between Mr and Mrs Tan?

We can form two strings of three people each:
Mr Tan --- Bob ---- Brian and:
Benedict ----- Mrs Tan ----- Brenda.
To determine how to join the two strings together to form a string of six people, we refer to the statement that Brian is beside his sister (i.e. Brenda) and the only possibility is Mr Tan ---- Bob ----Brian ---- Brenda ---- Mrs Tan ----- Benedict ----- Mr Tan ----- and so on.
Evidently, the one in between both parents is B e n e d i c t .
