If A B C ABC is a triangle with D , E D, E and F F being the mid points of the sides A B , B C AB, BC and C A CA , then what is the ratio of the areas of triangle D E F DEF and triangle A B C ABC ?

On introducing the required DEF triangle, in given triangle ABC, we are remained with four smaller triangles which are congruent to triangle DEF. Therefore, the required ratio is 1:4
