A geometry problem by Kundan Kumar

Geometry Level 2

two externally tangent circles of radii R1 and R2 are internally tangent to a semicircle of radius 1 then (given that R1 is not equal to R2)

R1+R2=2 R1+R2 <2(2^1/2 -1) R1+R2>2 R1+R2>3/2

1 solution

2R1 is less than or equal to 1, 2R2 is less than 1, (as both cannot be less than or equal to 1) therefore 2R1 + 2R2 is less than 1+1=2, therefore, R1+R2. <1 so the first three options are out.
