A person aims at a bird on top of a 5m pole with an angle of elevation of 30 degree. Distance of the person from pole is- Answer upto 2 decimals.


The answer is 8.66.

Let the distance between the person and the pole be x.

=>tan 30 = 5/x

=>1/3^1/2 = 5/x

=>x=5 x 3^1/2

=>x=8.66

therefore the distance between the person and the pole is 8.66 m

Let the distance be x
tan 30 degree = 5/x
or,1/\sqrt{3} = 5/x
or,x = 5*\sqrt{3}
or, x = 5 *1.732
or, x = 8.66
