A floor is to be covered with small tiles and made into a mosaic. The area of the floor is 80 , 000 cm 2 80,000\text{ cm}^2 . For every square meter of tiling you want to seal to the floor, you need 1 tube of glue. How many tubes of glue do you need for the whole floor?

As 1 m = 100 c m 1m=100cm , 1 m 2 = 100 100 c m 2 = 10 , 000 c m 2 1m^2=100\cdot100cm^2=10,000cm^2 .

Now we are given that area of the floor is 80 , 000 c m 2 80,000 cm^2 and 1 1 glue stick is needed for 1 m 2 1m^2 of the floor.So we need to convert 80 , 000 c m 2 80,000cm^2 into m 2 m^2 . 80 , 000 c m 2 = 80 , 000 100 100 m 2 = 8 m 2 80,000cm^2=\dfrac {80,000}{100\cdot100}m^2=8m^2 which is our answer.
