Five people can develop one software application in 13 days. If 2 people are suspended after the 4th day, how many total days will it take to complete the software application?

How many man-days of work will it take to develop the software application? 5 × 13 = 65 5 \times 13 = 65 man-days

How many man-days of work will been completed in 4 days with 5 people? 5 × 4 = 20 5 \times 4 = 20 man-days

How many man-days of work are left? 65 20 = 45 65 - 20 = 45 man-days

How many days will it take to do that much work with only 3 people left? 45 ÷ 3 = 15 45 \div 3 = 15 days

How many days will it taken in total? 4 + 15 = 19 4+15 = \boxed{19} days

d = 19 \therefore d=19

using man - days relationship let x = no. of days needed to finish the job after day 4 5x13 = 4(5) + ( 9 + x )3 x = 6 total number of days = 6 + 9 + 4 = 19 days

5 × 4 13 + 3 × ( x 4 ) 13 = 5 \frac{5\times4}{13} + \frac{3\times(x - 4)}{13} = 5

x = 19 x = 19
