When Mr Deb meet the car it was 2.5 minutes before meeting time, he walked about 57.5 minutes.

The 5-minute saved that day was from the shortened car's return journey from the point where he met his driver in the car and Chinsurah station. That means, it was 5 ÷ 2 = 2.5 minutes earlier that the usual pickup time, so Mr Deb must have walked for 60 - 2.5 = 57.5 minutes = 57.5 × 60 = 3450 seconds.
