A ball is thrown upwards from the ground with an initial speed of u. The ball is at a height of 80m at two times. The time interval being 6s .Find u. (take g=10m/s)

s=ut+1/2at^2; 80=ut+0.5 (-10) t^2; i.e 5t^2-ut+80=0; solve dis and we get two t's: namely t1 & t2 (say) given is t1-t2 =6; solve dis and we get u=+50 m/s (-50 m/s is neglected)
