A classical mechanics problem by Iwan Darmawan

A solid sphere (mass = 1 kg and radius = 1 meter) is on the hemisphere (mass = M = 4 kg, inner radius = R = 6 meter). This solid sphere is in pure rolling on M.

If π = 3 \pi = 3 and 0 , 6 = 0 , 75 \sqrt{0,6} = 0,75 For small oscillation, what is the period (in seconds)?

The formula for the period is 2 π l g = 2 π 6 10 = 2 × 3 × 0.75 = 4.5 2\pi\sqrt{\frac{l}{g}}=2\pi\sqrt{\frac{6}{10}}=2\times3\times0.75=\boxed{4.5} .
