Suppose, if i make a hole along the diameter of the earth...we both are standing one of side of hole..and i place a appropriate ball in your hand and ask you to leave it such that it fall in that hole due to gravity........now explain the motion of the ball ??
It escapes from the other end of the earth.
It just reach the centre of the earth and stop there
It goes on oscillating with a contant speed.
It moves in retarding SHM and rests at centre after a long time

While the ball moves. it retards periodically as the intensity of the gravity decreases when the ball move towards the center of the earth and comes to rest at the center of the earth.This can be proved mathematically
