Don't know the actual reason but i like that 1+7+2+9 = 19. And 19 x 91 = 1729. Will be fun to see if more such numbers exist.

it is also known as hardy-ramanujan number. while they were going in a taxi, mr.hardy told ramnujan that what a boring number is this(referring to the taxi number 1729). then ramanujan told him how interesting is this number!!!

It is the smallest number expressible as the sum of two cubes in two different ways. 1729 = 1^3 + 12^3 = 9^3 + 10^3

Discovered by mathemagician Srinivas Ramanujan, 1729 is said to be the magic number because it is the sole number which can be expressed as the sum of the cubes of two different sets of numbers.

It is the smallest number expressible as the sum of two cubes in two different ways. 12^3 + 1^3 = 10^3 + 9^3 = 1729. :)
