A number is categorized as a prime number if it has exactly 2 distinct positive divisors i.e 1 and the number itself.

Here 2 is the smallest prime.

3 is also prime, not the smallest one in the alternatives though

1 has also no more 2 divisor but 1 is not prime. Because a prime need at least and at most 2 divisor.

A number is called prime if it has only two divisor. 1 has only one divisor. 2 has two divisor. so 2 is smallest divisor.
