1 is neither prime nor composite because it does not match to their property:-

P r i m e Prime numbers:- A number whose only two factors are 1 and the number itself (It is 1 itself).

C o m p o s i t e Composite numbers:- A number which has more than 2 factors (It has only 1 factor).
