Let the sum of the ages of 40 people before 2 yrs be x
x/40 = 11 or, x = 440
now, after 2 years sum of ages of 40 people = 440+80 = 520
And, according to situation, (520 - y)/39 = 12 (where y is the age of the person who left)
or, (520 - y)/39 = 12
or, 520 - y = 468
or, y = 52 yrs
