In the figure above, trapezoid $ABCD$ has parallel lines $AB$ and $CD$ in the ratio $6$ : $14$ (their lengths). Given $\angle$ $AEC$ = $90^{\circ}$ , $DE$ = $DB$ , calculate $AE$ $^{2}$ .
