By the angle bisector theorem , we have

D C D B = A C A B \dfrac{DC}{DB}=\dfrac{AC}{AB}

C D 3 = 5 6 \dfrac{CD}{3}=\dfrac{5}{6}

C D = 15 6 = 2.5 c m CD=\dfrac{15}{6}=\boxed{2.5~cm}
