I wonder if there are general methods to these sorts of problems.

I don't know if there is a "real" mathematical solution for this. At least I used a way seems like cheating...

Since this image has 8 exactly same points, the total number of right triangles must be the multiple of 8. And since there is only one option that is a multiple of 8, the answer is 96.

i made this ...shape, and just count the right angles from the outside to the inside
