Think that we placed rockets on the Moon and brought it's revolutionary motion to a halt. Now there is no velocity component to balance the gravity between Earth and Moon. So both of them will come close and collide. In this process which one will travel more distance...

Both travel equal distance Earth Moon Can't tell which one

We can consider Earth & the Moon as a binary system. Well, I knew that the centre of this system resides just under the surface of the Earth. When the velocity components stop, both the centres of these binary components will tend to move at the centre of the binary system.

Now, since the centre is far away from the moon as from the Earth, the Moon will travel the greater distance of the two.

Well, you should read For the Love of Physics by Walter Lewin.

I have read it @Ameya Salankar and it's awesomme!!!! lol
