Let the no. of chickens be x and goats be y. According to the question their head count is 30, i.e. x + y = 30.....................[1 ] and the total no. of legs is 84 i.e. 2x + 4y = 84........................[2] solving for x and y we get x = 18 and y = 12 and they are in the ratio 3: 2
