A probability problem by Paola Ramírez

A survey was made to 200 mathematicians, 40 of them from Mexico, 50 of Colombia. 90 speak English, and of these 90, 65 are not from Mexico and 60 are not from Colombia. How many mathematicians are not from Colombia nor México, neither speak English?


The answer is 75.

Of 200 mathematicians 200-(40+50)=110 r not from Mexico nor Colombia. However 90 of the 200 speak English. So the people who "SPEAK ENGLISH BUT NOT FROM COLOMBIA NOR MEXICO " r simply 65+60-90=35.. Note that these 35 people r not from Colombia nor Mexico but SPEAK ENGLISH and previously we had 110 people from outside of Colombia and Mexico. Therefore people not from Colombia nor México, neither speak English is simply 110-35=75
