t = age of each triplet (integer>0)

n = age of younger niece (integer>0)

Then 160 = 75 + 3 × 5 × t + 5 × n = 75 + 15 × t + 5 × n 160 = 75 + 3 \times 5 \times t + 5 \times n = 75 + 15 \times t + 5 \times n

17 = 3 × t + n 17 = 3 \times t + n

t = 17 n 3 = 5 2 n 3 t = \frac{17-n}{3} = 5 - \frac{2-n}{3}

So, the niece is 2 and the triplets are 5.

I am assuming that due to a typo, the phrase, "coins be he"

in the penultimate line should be "what is the"
