1 solution

Let F F and S S be the present ages of the father and his son, respectively.

F = 3 S F=3S ( 1 ) \color{#D61F06}(1)

F + 30 = 24 + ( S + 30 ) F+30=24+(S+30) \implies S = F 24 S=F-24 ( 2 ) \color{#D61F06}(2)

Substitute ( 2 ) \color{#D61F06}(2) in ( 1 ) \color{#D61F06}(1) .

F = 3 ( F 24 ) F=3(F-24)

72 = 3 F F 72=3F-F

F = 36 \boxed{F=36}
