A question in a Amusement park?

Calvin, Satvik, Daniel, Sharky and Aditya go to an Amusement Park. The all are fancied by a ride and want to ride on it. But the ride has to be taken by exactly 4 people at a time.

What is the minimum number of times that groups of 4 from the group of 5 will have to take the ride in order to ensure that all the 5 get equal chances on the ride?

Details And Assumptions :

  • Assume that there are no other people who are willing to take the ride at that time.

  • Assume that the 5 can take any ride as many times as they want.

  • Assume that they ride at least once.

The answer is 5.

The 5 will have to at most 5 times leaving behind 1 of the 5 each time. But One who has already stayed behind should Go on the ride the rest of the 4 times. Which will lead to each of the 5 going on the ride 4 times each.

That is why I love NT it is so logical!!May I ask which class you are in? Do you have any special book from which you study Maths?

Dude I am in Class 8. I generally study maths from the Pearson IIT foundation series and Quicker Maths by M. Tyra.

The rest I do from the brilliant wikis.

P.S. I am not that good to give suggestions.

This is a simple one. So choosing only four of the friends from the group of 5 is 5C4 = 1

The statement (as of this post) never says that they have to ride it at least once, so I would say that zero is the real answer.

Thanks. I have updated the phrasing of the problem.
