A question on probability

An experiment was being conducted. It was found that an event A A can occur during the experiment with a probability of 0.4 0.4 . Three independent trials of the same experiment are again carried out. What is the probability that the event happened at least once?

It is given that P ( A ) = 0.4 P(A)=0.4 . So, the probability that A A doesn't occur is 1 P ( A ) = 1 0.4 = 0.6 1-P(A)=1-0.4=0.6 .

Three independent trails are performed. So, the probability for A A to occur at least once is given by: 1 0. 6 3 = 1 0.216 = 0.784 1-0.6^3=1-0.216=0.784
