A small daily life question!

Level 2

There are 2 sub tests of an exam, The result is given in 3 different columns,

1st column ➡ ranks in test 1.

2nd column ➡ ranks in test 2

3rd column ➡ combined result. (which is based on total marks, {marks in test 1 + marks in test 2})

For me to get 1st rank in the combined result, is it necessary that I should get 1st rank atleast in any one of the sub tests?

Can't be determined Yes No

A very simple counter example: Student Test 1 Test 2 Combined Alice 99 0 99 Bob 0 99 99 Charlie 50 50 100 \begin{array}{l|c|c|c} \text{Student} & \text{Test 1} & \text{Test 2} & \text{Combined} \\ \hline \text{Alice} & 99 & 0 & 99 \\ \text{Bob} & 0 & 99 & 99 \\ \text{Charlie} & 50 & 50 & 100 \end{array} Charlie is ranked second in both the first and second column. However he is ranked first in the third.
