Y=x^2-x derivative Y'=2x-1 ;y'=0 (maximum) 2x-1=0 X=0.5

A horizontal line has a slope equal to 0.

Hence, y’ = 0 at that point.

Then, y = x^2 – x

 y’ = 2x – 1 but y’ = 0

0 = 2x – 1

x = ½
