Addition of functions

Algebra Level 1

Given f ( x ) = 2 x 2 + 4 x 1 f(x) = 2x^2 + 4x - 1 and g ( x ) = 3 + x 2 g(x) = 3 + x^2 , find ( f + g ) ( x ) ( f + g)(x) .

4 x 2 + 3 x 2 4x^2 + 3x - 2 5 x 2 + 5 x 1 5x^2 + 5x - 1 3 x 2 + 4 x + 2 3x^2 + 4x + 2

1 solution

( f + g ) ( x ) = f ( x ) + g ( x ) = 2 x 2 + 4 x 1 + 3 + x 2 ( f + g)(x) = f(x) + g(x) = 2x^2 + 4x - 1 + 3 + x^2 = 3 x 2 + 4 x + 2 3x^2 + 4x + 2

@Marvin Kalngan , put the whole equation in "\ (" and "\ )". It will look better. I have done that on your solution for you.
