Just simple logic!
At the top, 3 Soft Drinks = 3 0 so each Soft Drink must be 1 0 as 3 0 ÷ 3 = 1 0 .
x + x + x = 3 0 then 3 0 ÷ 3 = 1 0 so 1 soft drink = 10 .
We already know that 1 Soft Drink equals 1 0 so we find what 2 0 − 1 0 is, which, by all means, equals to 1 0 . Next we have 2 Hamburgers that cost 1 0 in total so we repeat the process we did to the first part; so 1 0 ÷ 2 = 5 so now we know that 1 Hamburger equals 5 .
1 0 + x + x = 2 0 then 2 0 − 1 0 = 1 0 then 1 0 ÷ 2 = 5 so 1 Hamburger = 5 .
Next we look at the last problem, 1 Hamburger + 2 Fries = 9 . Since we know how much a hamburger costs 5, we solve 9 − 5 = 4 . There are 2 Fries so we do 4 ÷ 2 = 2 . So this means 1 Fries equals 2.
5 + x + x = 9 then 9 − 5 = 4 then 4 ÷ 2 = 2 so 1 Fries = 2 .
Finally we have all our numbers! The question is asking what is Hamburger + Fries + Soft Drink so we do 1 0 + 5 + 2 = 1 7 .
So our final answer is 1 7
