Let the age of Asha = z years and that of Nisha be = x years. Then as per the given condition that the present day age of Asha is 2 more than square of the age of her daughter Nisha which means z = 2 + x 2
After ' m ' years the age of Nisha is same as that of Asha's present age that would give us z = x + m Also the age of Asha after ' m ' years would be (as for the given conditions 1 less than 10 times her daughter's (Nisha's) present age which gives) z + m = 1 0 x − 1
The later stage 2 equations gives us 2 z = 1 1 x − 1
Now inserting the value of z from the above equation in first equation we get the following quadratic in x . 2 x 2 − 1 1 x + 5 = 0 The quadratic gives 2 solutions for x which are x = 5 , 2 1
Now considering the case of Homo sapiens and assuming the age of Nisha as 5 years we get age of her mother Asha (present age) = 27 years Otherwise considering case of age of Nisha as 0.5 years it would result into age of Asha as 2.25years
