Let the age of Sharla be x and the age of Yasmine be y. According to the condition, x=y+8 and, x-20 = 3(y-20) or, (y+8) -20 = 3y-60 or, y-12 = 3y-60 or, 3y-y = 60-12 or, 2y = 48 or, y = 24
