Alec (Alexander the Great to his friends, Smart Alec to his enemies) is sitting in class one day.
"Monitors will be in charge of the class," the teacher announces, "and no one is to leave the room until I return."
"You can't go," says Alec.
"Why not?" asks the teacher. (He hasn't yet learned to ignore Alec.)
"Because you're not back yet," replies Alec, "and you just said no one is to leave the room until you return."
Is Alec correct?

Technically speaking, Alec is right.
The teacher didn't say that no STUDENTS were to leave the room until he returns. He said that NO ONE is to leave the room until he returns. That includes himself.
