Raise both sides to the third power.

( ( x 1 ) 1 3 ) 3 = ( 5 ) 3 { ({ (x-1) }^{ \frac { 1 }{ 3 } } })^{ 3 }={ (5) }^{ 3 }

Thus x 1 = 125 x-1=125 and x = 126 x = 126

Why to the power of third?

Solving the equation gives: ( x 1 ) 1 3 = 5 x 1 = 5 3 = 125 x = 126 \begin{aligned} {(x-1)}^{\frac{1}{3}} &= 5 \\ x - 1 &= 5^3 \\ &= 125 \\ x &= \boxed{126} \end{aligned}

Therefore, the answer is 126 .
