The average of 2k and 3d is simply (2k+3d)÷2 which equals 2m. Cross multiply giving 4m=2k+3d. So then, if d=2, we have 4m=2k+6. Making 2k the subject gives 4m-6. Again finding the average means dividing both sides of your result by 2, giving 2m-k=3. Which is our required solution to the problem. Convinced?
