Some atoms of different elements have different atomic numbers and different mass numbers, but the same number of neutrons. For example X 6 1 4 X 2 6 2 1 4 C and X 7 1 5 X 2 7 2 1 5 N both have 8 neutrons. What is the term that refers to such atoms?

As they contain they same number of neutrons , they are isotones.

Not to be confused with nuclides that have the same number of protons (those are called isotopes ), nuclides that have the same number of neutrons as called isotones.
