p + q + 1 = 0 p + q = 1 p+q+1=0 \Rightarrow p+q=-1

( p + q ) 2 = ( 1 ) 2 (p+q)^2 = (-1)^2

p 2 + q 2 + 2 p q = 1 p 2 + q 2 = 1 2 p q p^2 + q^2 + 2pq = 1 \Rightarrow p^2 + q^2 = 1 - 2pq

Substituting,

p 2 + q 2 + 1 p + q + p q \frac {p^2 + q^2 + 1}{p + q + pq}

= 2 2 p q 1 + p q = \frac {2-2pq}{-1+pq}

= 2 = \boxed {-2}
