Let c n c_n , where n = 1 , 2 n = 1,2 be the carried-forward. In this case c n c_n can only be 0 0 or 1 1 .

From A + c 3 = 10 E + F A+c_3 = 10E+F , the only possible case is A = 9 A=9 , c 3 = 1 c_3=1 , E = 1 E=1 and F = 0 F=0 .

I used the below table to do the analysis of all the cases and found four cases. And the missing digit is 3 \boxed{3} .

What about 4936 +936=05872., 0 can be prefixed before the answer as there is no constraint for that... Right??
