The equations are: x 1 = a 2 x-1=a^2 x + 1 = b 3 x+1=b^3 Subtracting the second equation from the first equation,we get: 2 = a 2 b 3 2 = b 3 a 2 a 2 + 2 = b 3 -2=a^2-b^3\rightarrow 2=b^3-a^2\rightarrow a^2+2=b^3 Now by trial and error method,we get that a 2 = 25 , b 3 = 27 a^2=25,b^3=27 which means that a = 5 , b = 3 a=5,b=3 so x = 26 x=\boxed{26}
