(1/3)^2n-1=3^5 =>2n-1=-5 =>2n=-4 =>n=-2

To clarify you should consider placing 2 n 1 2n - 1 in parentheses, like so: \text {(1/3)^(2n-1)} so as to obey standard order of operations.
