Marvin is expecting some visitors today, so he equally divided a pie into some pieces.
Two visitors came and ate 3 4 \frac{3}{4} of the pie.
Later, another visitor came and ate 1 3 \frac{1}{3} of what has left and two slices remains.
How many slices did Marvin cut?

Let the starting be with x x pieces. After the first two visitors, x ( 3 / 4 ) x = x / 4 x-(3/4)x=x/4 pieces left. After the third visitor x / 4 ( 1 / 3 ) × ( x / 4 ) = x / 6 x/4-(1/3)\times (x/4)=x/6 left. And this is equal to 2 2 . So x / 6 = 2 x/6=2 or x = 12 x=12 .
