Let functions f & g be : f(x) = x 2 x^{2} , g(x) = x 2 |x-2| . Then the opposite graph represents both functions f & g .

Without calculators, And using the opposite graph and your mental logic only. Find the middle number in the Solution Set which satsfies the inequality x 2 < x 2 x^{2} < |x-2|

Hint : write down the Solution Set as an interval then find the middle number in this interval .


The answer is -0.5.

The answer is 0.5 \boxed{-0.5} because it is halfway between the two limits [ 2 , 1 ] [-2,1] (see below).
