523x + 452y + 477x+ 548y = 67 +76 1000x + 1000y = 143 Divide both sides by 1000. Therefore: x+y = 0.143

Given , 523 x + 452 y = 67 ( 1 ) 477 x + 548 y = 76 ( 2 ) \begin{aligned} 523x + 452y = 67 \ldots (1) \\ 477x + 548y = 76 \ldots (2) \end{aligned} . Adding ( 1 ) (1) and ( 2 ) (2) , we get 1000 x + 1000 y = 143 x + y = 0.143 \begin{aligned} 1000x +1000y = 143 \\ x + y = \boxed{0.143} \end{aligned}
