Because a negative number becomes a positive when squared, but would still leave its double as the coefficient in the second term.
did the same and got it right.
Good solution
Question. Isn't x^2 just x x? also 2x would also equal x x. So lets say x x=z. z-z (because of the two x x's) = 0. then the 0+1=1. So the square root of one is the answer. I just checked and the square root of one, I dont know how I forgot, is one. So wouldn't the answer be 1?

2 x = 2 × x x 2 = x × x
I'm reading this later and I haven't a clue what I just said.

y = x 2 − 2 x + 1 = ( x − 1 ) 2
y = ( x − 1 ) 2 = ∣ x − 1 ∣ = x − 1 o r 1 − x
