( 4 + x ) ( 3 ) = 18 + x (4+x)(3)=18+x

12 + 3 x = 18 + x 12+3x=18+x

3 x x = 18 12 3x-x=18-12

2 x = 6 2x=6

x = 3 \color{#D61F06}\boxed{x=3}

Correct! :D

Assume the number is x.

( 4 + x ) × 3 = 18 + x (4+x)\times3 = 18+x

12 + 3 x = 18 + x 12+3x = 18 + x

2 x = 6 2x = 6

x = 3 x=\boxed{3}
