There are 400 cardboard boxes on a truck. some of the boxes are large and some are small. the total mass of the boxes is 3450 kg. the mass of one large box is 12 kg and the mass of one small box is 5 kg. what is the ratio of the number of small boxes :large boxes?

Let the number of small boxes be y and Number of large boxes be x By given data, We know that x+y=400 .....(I) 5x +12y= 3450......(II) Multiplying 5 to equation(I) and subtracting from equation (II), We get; 5x+12y-5x-5y=3450-2000 7x=1540 x=220 y= 180 y:x = 180:220 = 9:11
